Resetting your phone modem can fix a variety of Voice issues. For specific information on your phone modem, consult its user guide. To reset your modem manually:

  1. Unplug the power cord from the back of your modem.
  2. Remove any batteries (if you have them).
  3. Once the lights on the modem go dark, wait 15 seconds.
  4. Replace the batteries (if applicable).
  5. Plug the modem back in.
It can take up to 5 minutes after the reset for your dial tone to be restored. If your modem also provides internet access you won't be able to connect to the internet while it's resetting. If you need more support, see our voice troubleshooting article.
