Parental Controls allow you to monitor what programs your children are able to watch. By creating a Personal Identification Number (PIN), you can block specific programs based on channel, rating restrictions or air date and time. You also have the option to hide adult titles from being displayed in the Guide.

The following information will help you manage Parental Locks and Purchase PINs on your Pace/Arris Motorola Spectrum Receiver (using the i-Guide interactive program guide). Use the quick links below to navigate to the section of your choice.

PIN setup

You have the option to create a personalized four-digit PIN to enable various parental controls. You can create a Locks PIN to block certain programming and a Purchase PIN to restrict the purchase of Premium channels, On Demand programs or Instant Upgrade. Follow the steps below using your remote control:

  1. Access General Settings on your TV.
  2. Select Setup, then Parental Control Setup.
  3. Choose and enter a new four-digit Locks PIN.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm your new entry.
  5. Open PINs Setup to edit or clear your Locks PIN, and create a Purchase PIN.

Manage Parental Locks

When a Parental Lock is enabled, the Guide will automatically block programs according to your selected rating, as well as more restrictive ratings. For example, if you've chosen to restrict content with a PG-13 rating, content with R, NC-17 and Adult ratings will also be blocked.

You can set parental locks in the Guide or while watching TV by selecting the Lock icon from the Quick Menu. You'll need your Locks PIN to view or change current parental locks. Follow the on-screen prompts to lock the channel, title or rating.

You can also enable locks from the Setup Menu. Follow the steps below to manage the content you would like to restrict:

  1. Access the General Settings menu.
  2. Select Setup, then Parental Control Setup.
  3. Enter your Locks PIN.
  4. Scroll to highlight and select the locks of your choice:
  • Movie Rating Locks
  • TV Rating Locks
  • TV Content Locks
  • Channel Locks
  • Title Locks
  • Service Locks
  • Hide Titles
  1. Follow the on-screen prompts to restrict certain viewing permissions.
  2. Use the OK/Select button on your remote to turn on the lock of your choice.
Note: Locked programming can be recorded on your DVR, but you'll need your Locks PIN to watch that content. On Demand programming will also be locked based on your selected restrictions.

Remove Locks

If you'd like to access programs that you've restricted, you can tune to the program or select it from the Guide and enter your Locks PIN to watch.

You can also temporarily Bypass Locks or Remove All Locks under Master Locks in the Content Locks Setup menu.

Parental Locks can be restored using any of the methods provided below:

  • Select the Lock icon from the Quick Menu, then enter your Locks PIN.
