Security Suite for Mac includes real-time virus and spyware scanning, ensuring that your Mac is scanned for viruses automatically. However, you can also perform a manual virus and spyware scan of your computer, or select specific files and folders to scan for threats. Use the quick links below to navigate to a section of your choice.

Manual Virus Scan

With Security Suite for Mac, you're not required to perform a manual virus scan on a regular basis. However, if you decide to do so, the following steps will guide you through the process.

  1. Select the Security Suite padlock icon located in the task bar on your desktop and then select Open Security Suite.
  2. To perform a manual virus scan, choose Virus Scan, as shown in the image below.

  1. The Security Suite software will begin scanning your computer for threats. A progress bar will display indicating how much time remains for the scan. You can use your computer as normal during the scanning process.
  2. When scanning is complete, a summary will display letting you know how many viruses were found and removed.
  3. Select Close when finished.

Choose What to Scan

When performing a virus scan you can also specify which files you want to scan for threats:

  1. Open Security Suite, select the Tools tab and then Choose what to scan.

  1. A new window will display, from which you can select a specific file or folder to scan. Choose your desired option, then select Open.
  2. Security Suite will begin to scan the document(s) of your choice for viruses and spyware. You can use your computer as normal during the scanning process.
  3. Once the scan is complete, Security Suite will notify you of any threats found and removed.
  4. Select Close when finished.
