An amplifier, sometimes called a signal booster, is an electrical device installed inside your home to increase cable signal level to outlets. When needed, an amplifier is installed in your home at the time of install or via a separate service visit.

Increasing the cable signal level is sometimes necessary when one or more of the following causes signal loss:

  • More than 5 outlets are activated within a home, regardless of the type of service
  • Long cable runs are needed
  • Multiple splitters are used
  • Cable plant issues

A typical amplifier/signal booster:

  1. Coax Cable input
  2. Grounding connector
  3. Power LED
  4. VOIP or Data Port
  5. Booster Output Ports
