Parental Controls

Turn Parental Controls On/Off

The first time you turn on Parental Controls, you will be asked to create a four-digit PIN. If you forget your Parental Controls PIN and need to have it reset, please call us at (833) 267-6094.

To turn Parental Controls on or off:

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote, scroll to Settings & Support using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  2. Using the arrow buttons, scroll down to Parental Controls and then press OK/Select.
  3. Press the right arrow to scroll over to Parental Controls Settings and then press OK/Select.
  4. Highlight Turn On/Off Parental Controls using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  5. Enter or create your four-digit PIN and then press OK/Select.
  6. Use the arrow buttons to select On or Off and then press OK/Select.
  7. Highlight Save and then press OK/Select to confirm your changes.

 

Create or Change Your PIN

To set or change your PIN:

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote, scroll to Settings & Support using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  2. Using the arrow buttons, scroll down to Parental Controls and then press OK/Select.
  3. Press the right arrow to scroll over to Parental Controls Settings and then press OK/Select.
  4. Highlight the Set Parental Controls PIN using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
    • To set a PIN: Enter a 4-digit number that is easy to remember but isn't easily guessed by members of your household. Confirm your PIN by entering the number again.
    • To change a PIN: Enter your existing PIN and then follow the prompts to create a new PIN.
  5. Highlight Save and then press OK/Select to confirm your changes.

Hide Adult Content and Require PIN to access

You can turn on the Hide Adult Content setting if you want to prevent adult content titles from displaying in the Spectrum Guide. When this setting is enabled, you'll be prompted to enter your PIN if adult content is accessed using direct channel number input.

Note: Turning ON the Hide Adult Content setting will hide adult titles in the guide whether Parental Controls are ON or OFF. It's important to remember that Parental Controls must be turned ON to require your PIN if adult content is accessed using direct channel number input.

To turn Hide Adult Content on/off and require a PIN to access:

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote, scroll to Settings & Support using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  2. Using the arrow buttons, scroll down to Parental Controls and then press OK/Select.
  3. Press the right arrow to scroll over to Parental Controls Settings and then press OK/Select.
  4. Highlight Hide Adult Content using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  5. Enter or create your PIN, then press OK/Select.
  6. Use the arrow buttons to select On (enable) or Off (disable) and then press OK/Select.
  7. Highlight Save and then press OK/Select to confirm your changes.

 

Restrict by Rating

You can turn on the Rating Restrictions setting to block programs with a specific rating. When this setting is enabled, you'll be prompted to enter your PIN when attempting to access programming with that rating or above, as well as programming that is unrated. Learn more about   program ratings.

To restrict programming by rating:

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote, scroll to Settings & Support using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  2. Using the arrow buttons, scroll down to Parental Controls and then press OK/Select.
  3. Press the right arrow to scroll over to Parental Controls Settings and then press OK/Select.
  4. Highlight Rating Restrictions using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  5. Enter or create your PIN and then press OK/Select.
  6. Use the arrow buttons to select the ratings you want to restrict, then press OK/Select. When you choose a rating, all higher ratings in that category will automatically be restricted. Note: You must set restrictions for movie and TV content separately.
  7. Highlight Save and then press OK/Select to confirm your changes.

 

 

Restrict by Channel

You can turn on the Channel Restrictions setting to restrict access to specific networks. When this setting is enabled, you'll be prompted to enter your PIN when attempting to access blocked channels.

To restrict specific channels:

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote, scroll to Settings & Support using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  2. Using the arrow buttons, scroll down to Parental Controls and then press OK/Select.
  3. Press the right arrow to scroll over to Parental Controls Settings and then press OK/Select.
  4. Highlight Channel Restrictions using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  5. Enter or create your PIN, then press OK/Select.
  6. Use the arrow buttons to select the specific channels you want to restrict and then press OK/Select.
  7. Highlight Save and then press OK/Select to confirm your changes.

 

Note: When you set Parental Controls to block certain channels, you may see a lock icon on those channels. If you don't see the icon, the channels will still require a PIN to access.

 

Restrict by Content Type

You can set up Content Filters to restrict programming with violent or inappropriate content. When this setting is enabled, you'll be prompted to enter your PIN when attempting to access programming that contains specific themes or content you've restricted.

To restrict specific content:

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote, scroll to Settings & Support using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  2. Using the arrow buttons, scroll down to Parental Controls and then press OK/Select.
  3. Press the right arrow to scroll over to Parental Controls Settings and then press OK/Select.
  4. Highlight Content Filters using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  5. Enter or create your PIN, then press OK/Select.
  6. Use the arrow buttons to select the content you want to restrict and then press OK/Select.
  7. Highlight Save and then press OK/Select to confirm your changes.

 

 

Restrict by Time/Day

You can use the Time/Day Restrictions settings to control when members of your household can view programming. When this setting is enabled, you'll be prompted to enter your PIN before watching TV or movies during a specific time frame. Repeat the steps below to set up to 10 separate restrictions.

To set a Time/Day Restriction:

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote, scroll to Settings & Support using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  2. Using the arrow buttons, scroll down to Parental Controls and then press OK/Select.
  3. Press the right arrow to scroll over to Parental Controls Settings and then press OK/Select.
  4. Highlight Time/Day Restrictions using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  5. Enter or create your PIN, then press OK/Select.
  6. Use the arrow buttons to select Add Restriction and then press OK/Select.
  7. Highlight and select the days you want to restrict, press OK/Select and then use the number and arrow buttons to select the specific time. To switch between AM and PM, highlight the AM/PM field and press OK/Select.
  8. Highlight Save and then press OK/Select to confirm your changes.

 

Time/Day Restrictions

 

To edit a Time/Day Restriction:

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote, scroll to Settings & Support using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  2. Using the arrow buttons, scroll down to Parental Controls and then press OK/Select.
  3. Press the right arrow to scroll over to Parental Controls Settings and then press OK/Select.
  4. Highlight Time/Day Restrictions using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  5. Enter or create your PIN, then press OK/Select.
  6. Use the arrow buttons to highlight one of your set restrictions and then press OK/Select.
  7. Make your desired changes and then press OK/Select.
  8. Highlight Save and then press OK/Select to confirm your changes.

 

Time/Day Restrictions

 

To delete a Time/Day Restriction:

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote, scroll to Settings & Support using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  2. Using the arrow buttons, scroll down to Parental Controls and then press OK/Select.
  3. Press the right arrow to scroll over to Parental Controls Settings and then press OK/Select.
  4. Highlight Time/Day Restrictions using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  5. Enter or create your PIN, then press OK/Select.
  6. Use the arrow buttons to highlight the delete icon next to the restriction you want to remove and then press OK/Select.
  7. Make your desired changes and then press OK/Select.
  8. Highlight Remove and then press OK/Select to remove the restriction.

  2. Using the arrow buttons, scroll down to Parental Controls and then press OK/Select.
  3. Press the right arrow to scroll over to Purchase Controls and then press OK/Select.
  4. Using the arrow buttons, highlight Set Purchase Controls PIN and then press OK/Select.
    • To set a PIN: Enter a 4-digit number that is easy to remember but isn't easily guessed by members of your household. Confirm your PIN by entering the number again.
    • To change a PIN: Enter your existing PIN and then follow the prompts to create a new PIN.
  5. Highlight Save and then press OK/Select to confirm your changes.

Turn Purchase Controls On/Off

The first time you turn on Purchase Controls, you will be asked to set a four-digit PIN. If you forget your Purchase Controls PIN and need to have it reset, please call us at (833) 267-6094.

To turn Purchase Controls on or off:

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote, scroll to Settings & Support using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  2. Using the arrow buttons, scroll down to Parental Controls and then press OK/Select.
  3. Press the right arrow to scroll over to Purchase Controls and then press OK/Select.
  4. Using the arrow buttons, highlight Turn On/Off Purchase Controls and then press OK/Select.
  5. Enter or create your PIN and then press OK/Select.
  6. Use the arrow buttons to select On or Off and then press OK/Select.
  7. Highlight Save and then press OK/Select to confirm your changes.

Set Purchase Limits

You can set a purchase limit to only allow purchases and rentals with a cost below your set limit. Purchases exceeding your set purchase limit will require you to enter your Purchase Controls PIN.

To set the Purchase Limit:

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote, scroll to Settings & Support using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  2. Using the arrow buttons, scroll down to Parental Controls and then press OK/Select.
  3. Press the right arrow to scroll over to Purchase Controls and then press OK/Select.
  4. Using the arrow buttons, highlight Set Purchase Limits and then press OK/Select.
  5. Use the number keypad on your remote to enter the purchase limit.
  6. Highlight Save using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select to confirm your purchase limit.

 

Set Purchase Limits

 

On Demand Lock

You have the choice to allow or restrict access to On Demand programming with On Demand Lock. When this feature is enabled, access to any On Demand programming will require you to enter your PIN.

Create or Change Your PIN

Note: If you don't know your PIN or if you haven't created one yet, you can try entering 0000 or 1234 as the default.

To create or change your PIN:

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote, scroll to Settings & Support using the arrow buttons and then press OK/Select.
  2. Using the arrow buttons, scroll down to Parental Controls and then press OK/Select.
  3. Press the right arrow to scroll over to On Demand Lock and then press OK/Select.
  4. Using the arrow buttons, highlight Set On Demand PIN and then press OK/Select.
    • To set a PIN: Enter a 4-digit number that is easy to remember but isn't easily guessed by members of your household. Confirm your PIN by entering the number again.
    • To change a PIN: Enter your existing PIN and then follow the prompts to create a new PIN.

  3. Press the right arrow to scroll over to On Demand Lock and then press OK/Select.
  4. Using the arrow buttons, highlight Turn On/Off On Demand Lock and then press OK/Select.
  5. Enter or create your PIN, then press OK/Select.
  6. Use the arrow buttons to select On or Off and then press OK/Select.
  7. Highlight Save and then press OK/Select to confirm your changes.
