With the new Spectrum Guide, you can manage your Parental Controls, enable Closed Captioning and get support directly on your TV.

Note: The new Spectrum Guide is being deployed to some customers with HD Spectrum Receivers in select markets, with more areas coming soon! If you live in or near Ft. Worth, TX, Spectrum Guide support can be found here.

 

To access Settings & Support in the new Spectrum Guide:

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote.
  2. Use the arrow buttons to highlight Settings & Support and then press OK/Select.
  3. Select the setting category you want to adjust and then press OK/Select.
  4. Highlight the setting you want to edit and then press OK/Select.
  5. Once you've made your changes, select Save.

Accessibility

Accessibility settings can be accessed by pressing Menu on your remote and then navigating to Settings & Support > Accessibility.

Setting Description

Closed Captioning

Choose to turn Closed Captioning On or Off. When enabled, Closed Captioning displays the audio portion of a program as text on your screen.

Descriptive Video Service (DVS)

Choose to turn DVS On or Off. When enabled, DVS delivers audio descriptions to narrate content on screen.

Closed Captioning Settings

Adjust the following settings to customize how Closed Captioning appears on screen:

  • Presentation: Select how Closed Captioning enters the screen.
  • Text Settings: Adjust the color, transparency, size, font and character edge for Closed Captioning text.
  • Background Settings: Change the color and transparency of the background of Closed Captioning text.
  • Window Settings: Change the color and transparency of the window surrounding Closed Captioning text.
  • Language: Select a Closed Captioning language to use (when available).
  • Closed Captioning Type: Choose to display Standard or Easy Reader Closed Captioning.

Preferences

Preferences can be accessed by pressing Menu on your remote and then navigating to Settings & Support > Preferences.

Setting Description

Favorites

Create or edit your list of Favorite networks.

Guide Settings

  • Guide Format: Choose between the Standard Guide, which provides detailed program information in a quick-view format, and the Video Guide, which offers streaming video of each channel so you can view the channel while searching for programming without tuning away from your current channel.
  • Guide Background Color: Change the brightness of your guide by selecting either the Light Guide or the Dark Guide.
  • Guide Display Aspect Ratio: Choose between Standard and High Definition.
  • Auto-Tune to HD: Automatically tune to the HD version of a selected program when that channel is available in HD. Note: If you have an HD receiver and an SD TV, you'll need to turn off the HD Auto Tune feature in order to get the proper picture on the SD channel.
  • Channel Bar Position: You can choose to have the Channel Bar appear at the top or bottom of your screen. Learn more about the Channel Bar.
  • Mini Guide Position: You can choose to have the Mini Guide appear at the top or bottom of your screen. Learn more about the Mini Guide.
  • Display Durations: Adjust how long you want the Channel Bar, Info Banner, Progress Bar and Mini Guide to display on your screen.
  • Alert Notifications: Turn Channel Change Alerts on or off.

Audio & Video

  • Audio: Manage your Language Preference, Stereo Audio settings, Audio Outpit and Descriptive Video Service (DVS) options. Learn more about the Audio settings available in the new Spectrum Guide.
  • Video: Change your Video Format and select how you want programming to display on your Standard or High Definition TV. Learn more about the Video settings available in the new Spectrum Guide.

Caller ID

See details of incoming phone calls on your TV when you subscribe to Spectrum Voice and Spectrum TV service. Learn more about setting up Caller ID for the new Spectrum Guide.

Digital Receiver

  • Power-On Channel: Set your receiver to tune to a specific channel each time you turn it on. Learn more about setting your Power On Channel.
  • Front Panel Display: Change the front panel display to show the current time, channel or nothing. Note: Not all receivers include a front panel display.
  • Time Display: If your reciever has a front panel display, you can choose how you want the time displayed, either 12 Hour Clock (e.g. 9:30) or 24 Hour Clock (e.g. 21:30). Note: Ensure that your Front Panel Display Options are set to display time.
  • Front Panel Display Brightness: If your reciever has a front panel display, you can adjust the brightness of the information displayed.
  • Power Settings: As an energy-saving feature, you can set your receiver to automatically power off after 4 hours of inactivity.
  • AC Outlet: If your receiver includes an AC outlet on the back panel, you can decide whether you want to turn off power to that outlet when your receiver is powered off or always leave it powered on.

Parental Controls

Parental Controls settings can be accessed by pressing Menu on your remote and then navigating to Settings & Support > Parental Controls.

Setting Description

Parental Controls Settings

  • Set Parental Controls PIN: Set a 4-digit Parental Controls PIN to safeguard viewing.
  • Turn On/Turn Off Parental Controls: Turn Parental Controls On or Off.
  • Hide Adult Content: Turn On the Hide Adult Content setting if you want to prevent adult content titles from appearing in the guide. If Parental Controls are enabled, the parental control PIN will be required to access these titles.
  • Content Filters: Use the Content Filters to be prompted to enter your PIN when attempting to access programming with specific themes or content.
  • Rating Restrictions: Turn On the Channel Restrictions setting to be prompted to enter your PIN when attempting to access specific channels.
  • Channel Restrictions: Turn On the Channel Restrictions setting to be prompted to enter your PIN when attempting to access specific channels.
  • Time/Day Restrictions: Use the Time/Day Restrictions to be prompted to enter your PIN before accessing any programming during a specific time frame. Repeat the steps to set up to 10 restrictions.

Purchase Controls

  • Set Purchase Controls PIN: Create a 4-digit Purchase Controls PIN to restrict Video On Demand or Pay-Per-View purchases, as well as instant upgrade.
  • Turn On/Turn Off Purchase Controls: Turn Purchase Controls On or Off.
  • Set Purchase Limits: set a purchase limit to only allow purchases and rentals with a cost below your set limit. Purchases exceeding your set purchase limit will require you to enter your Purchase Controls PIN.

On Demand Lock

  • Set On Demand PIN: Create a 4-digit On Demand PIN to to safeguard viewing.
  • Turn On/Turn Off On Demand Lock: Turn On Demand Lock On or Off.

DVR Settings

DVR Settings can be accessed by pressing Menu on your remote and then navigating to Settings & Support > DVR Settings.

Setting Description

Group Like Items

Organize your favorite programming by grouping similar titles together in your saved Recordings, such as episodes in the same series.

Show Recording Alerts

If there's a recording conflict, you'll see a message warning you that your DVR will automatically tune to the channel of the scheduled recording. You can set this feature to warn you up to 15 minutes before the DVR is scheduled to record a different program.

Available Storage

View the percentage of hard drive storage you have used.

Account Overview can be accessed by pressing Menu on your remote and then navigating to Settings & Support > Account Overview.

Setting Description

Account Info

View information about your account and equipment, including your Account Number.

Equipment

View helpful application information sometimes used in troubleshooting. You can also access the RESET DATA button in the event you need to clear memory and reset your receiver.
