General Information

My Account

My Account provides your account number and information on your TV equipment, including make, model and more.

To access My Account, follow the steps below:

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote.
  2. Use the arrow buttons to select APPS.
  3. Choose My Account.

Reminders

To set or cancel a reminder:

  1. Press the Guide button your remote.
  2. Highlight the program you would like to set or cancel a reminder for.
  3. Press the Info button on your remote, then select Set or cancel a reminder.
  4. You will be prompted to select one of the following options:
  • Remind: Set a reminder using your current settings.
  • Don't remind
  • View reminder settings: To edit reminder options
  1. Select Remind with these settings to save your changes.  
  2. Press the Exit button on your remote to return to live programming.



Reminder Options

  • Repeat Reminder: Sets the frequency of the reminder based on Once, Once a Day, Once a Week, Mon-Fri, or Sat-Sun.
  • Start Time: When to start showing the reminder. Can be set up to 15 minutes before the program starts.
  • End Time: When to end the reminder. Can be set up to 2 hours after the program ends.

Messages

Spectrum sends messages to announce new services, special promotions or other important information. If you receive a message, an envelope icon will appear in the upper-left hand corner of your TV screen and a red light will show on your Spectrum receiver.

To turn Messaging On/Off:

  1. Open the General Settings menu.
  2. Select Setup, then Guide Setup.
  3. Scroll to Message Indicator
  4. Use the arrow buttons on your remote to ;turn messages On or Off.
  5. Press the Exit button on your remote to return to live programming.

To view Messages:

  1. Open the General Settings menu.
  2. Select Messages, then choose the desired message.
  3. To discard the message, select Delete icon (X).
  4. Press the Exit button on your remote to return to live programming.

Clock Display

To set the clock display on your Arris, Motorola or Pace Spectrum receiver:

  1. Open the General Settings menu.
  2. Select Setup, then Cable Box Setup.
  3. Highlight Front LED Display, then scroll to select Current Time.
  4. Press the Exit button on your remote to return to live programming.

Language Setup

To manage your Audio Language settings:

  1. Open the General Settings menu.
  2. Select Setup, then Audio Setup.
  3. Use the arrow buttons on your remote to manage the following settings:
  • Default Audio Track
  • Descriptive Video Service
  • Audio Output
  • Compression
  • Stereo Output
  • Optimal Stereo 
  1. Press the Exit button on your remote to return to live programming.

To manage your Text Language settings:

  1. Open the General Settings menu.
  2. Select Setup, then Text Language Setup.
  3. Choose one of the following:
  • English (U.S.)
  • English (Canada)
  • Espanol (Spanish)
  • Francais (French)
  1. Select the Checkmark icon to confirm Change text language.
  2. Press the Exit button on your remote to return to live programming.


SAP and DVS

Secondary Audio Programming (SAP) service provides an alternate audio track in another language for available programming.

Descriptive Video Service (DVS) narration describes the action of a scene and is designed to make programs more accessible to customers that may be visually impaired. DVS is only available on select channels and during select programming

SAP and DVS settings can be managed in the Audio Setup menu in the Guide.

Note: You won't be able to utilize SAP and DVS at the same time. If the program you're viewing doesn't include the SAP service for your preferred language, you may hear no audio.

Auto-Tune Settings

Auto-Tune eliminates the need to use 3 digits to change the channel. To enable auto-tune:

  1. Open the General Settings menu.
  2. Select Setup, then Guide Setup.
  3. Select Channel Entry Method.
  4. Use the Left and Right arrow buttons to select Auto-Tune.
  5. Select Tune for HDTV (if applicable) and choose Yes.
  6. Press the Exit button on your remote to return to live programming.
Note: High Definition (HD) Auto Tune automatically tunes customers to the available HD version a selected program. If you have an HD Spectrum receiver and an SD TV, you will need to turn off the HD Auto Tune feature in order to get the proper picture on the SD channel. Learn more.

Screen Saver Setup

To manage Screen Saver settings on your Spectrum receiver:

  1. Open the General Settings menu.
  2. Select Setup, then Screen Saver Setup.
  3. Turn Screen Save on or off.
  4. Set the Activation Time for 1-15 minutes.
  5. Press the Exit button on your remote to return to live programming.
Note: Screen Saver will activate when the Guide screen is displayed for longer than the set Activation Time. The Screen Saver default is On.

Guide Color

To change the color of your Guide:

  1. Open the General Settings menu.
  2. Select Setup, then Guide Colors Setup.
  3. Use the arrow buttons on your remote to select the color scheme of your choice.
  4. Press the Exit button on your remote to return to live programming.

Aspect Ratio Settings

Adjusting the aspect ratio settings can improve the picture quality displayed on your TV.

To change the aspect ratio on your Arris Motorola Spectrum receiver:

  1. Press the CBL button on your remote.
  2. Turn off your Spectrum Receiver, but keep your TV on.
  3. Press the Menu button on your remote to open User Settings.
  4. Select TV Type, then choose an aspect ratio, as shown in the image below.
  5. For Pace Spectrum Receivers, select TV Aspect Ratio.

Quick Menu

The Quick Menu provides shortcuts to Interactive Program Guide features. Press the Menu button on your remote to access the Quick Menu. Below you'll find a description for Quick Menu icons:

Upgrading TV Services

If you attempt to view programming that you're not subscribed to, you'll be given the opportunity to upgrade your Spectrum TV services. When prompted, follow the onscreen instructions to learn about available TV service upgrades, read the terms and conditions and complete your order.

Learn more about creating a Purchase PIN, to restrict instant upgrade and other purchases. Customers with a Purchase PIN setup on their Spectrum receiver will be required to enter the PIN during the order process.

Once your order is complete, you'll have immediate access to all channels and On Demand content contained in your new package or premium movie channel.


Upgrading TV Services Error

You may encounter an error screen when upgrading your TV services if:

  • Your account currently has a delinquent balance.
  • Your Spectrum receiver is incompatible with the selected upgrade.
  • You currently have an open service order on your account.
  • Spectrum is experiencing technical issues.


On Demand & Pay-Per-View

To access On Demand content:
 
  1. Press the On Demand button on your remote control.
  2. Scroll to a category of your choice.
  3. Highlight and select your desired program.
  4. When prompted, select Buy or View (eye icon).
  5. A price will display under the title if purchase is required.
  6. You'll be asked to confirm your purchase. Select Order to proceed, or Don't order to cancel.
  7. Enter your purchase PIN when prompted.
  8. Select Exit to return to live programming.

To access Pay-Per-View (PPV): 
 
  1. Open the General Settings menu, then scroll to Pay-Per-View.
  2. Scroll to a category of your choice.
  3. Highlight and select your desired program.
  4. Select Buy to place an order.
  5. You'll be asked to confirm your purchase. Select Order to proceed, or Don't order to cancel.
  6. Enter your purchase PIN when prompted.
  7. Select Exit to return to live programming.

To cancel a PPV order:
 
  1.  Open General Settings > Pay-Per-View > Pay-Per-View By Title.
  2. Select the title you wish to cancel, then select Buy
  3. A message will appear indicating the program has been ordered.
  4. Select Don't Order.
  5. A Order Canceled Confirmation message will display onscreen.
  6. Select Exit to return to live programming.

Caller ID on TV

Get general information about Caller ID on TV (CIDTV)

CIDTV Settings

Follow the steps below to access Caller ID on TV settings:

  1. Open the Quick Menu.
  2. Select the APPS icon, then Caller ID to manage the following settings:
  • Notification: Turn CIDTV On or Off.
  • Location: Select Top or Bottom to designate where the Caller ID alert will display on your TV screen.
  • Duration: Determines how long incoming call alerts remain on the television screen.
  • Snooze: Prevents Caller ID alerts from displaying onscreen for a specific amount of time. Once the time has lapsed, CIDTV automatically begins displaying alerts again.
  • View Call Log: Review the 30 most recent incoming calls received. Call information will be stored even when CIDTV is turned off.
  • Exit: Closes the Caller ID Settings screen.
  • About: Displays the version of CIDTV software your Spectrum receiver is currently using.

Closed Captioning

Closed captioning displays the audio portion of a program as text on your TV screen. Learn more.

To turn closed captions On or Off using your remote control:

  1. Press Menu twice to open the Main Menu.
  2. Scroll to select Setup, then Closed Captioning Setup.
  3. Highlight the Closed Captioning option, then use the directional arrows to turn closed captions on or off.
  4. Select Additional Closed Caption Settings to customize how closed captions appear onscreen.
  5. Press Exit to return to live programming.
To quickly turn Closed Captioning on or off, press the A button on your remote control while viewing live, full-screen programming. Captions will appear onscreen when enabled. This function is only accessible on HD Spectrum receivers.


Recording (DVR)

Spectrum receivers can store up to 90 hours of recorded programming. Scheduled recordings can be managed in the DVR section of the Quick Menu. A scheduled recording will occur even if the DVR is off.

Record a Series

DVR capable Spectrum receivers allow for Series Recordings. A Series Recording will record episodes of a title based on the options setup. Series Recordings are setup based on a Series Priority list, which determines which title is recorded in the event of a conflict.

To access Series Recording setup:

  1. Locate the title to be recorded using the Interactive Programming Guide.
  2. Press RECORD on your remote control twice.
  3. Select Set Up a Series Recording to specify recording options.
  4. Select the Record Series with These Settings icon to schedule the recording.

 

NOTE: Advanced recording options can be accessed by selecting the View All Settings icon while in the Series Recording options window
.

Once a Series Recording has been established, users can cancel or modify their settings:

  1. Press the My DVR button on your remote.
  2. Select the desired DVR Recording.
  3. Select OK, then the X icon to cancel the Series Recording.
  4. Select Modify Recording Settings to update the recording options for the selected title.
  5. Confirm your changes by selecting the Record icon.


HD Recordings

HD recordings uses more of your DVR storage capacity. When HD Auto Tune is enabled on a DVR, all scheduled recordings will record in HD. After scheduling a recording from either an SD or HD channel, you can access the DVR menu to modify the recording settings.

To change a scheduled recording from high definition to standard definition:

  1. Open the DVR menu, then select Future Recording.
  2. Select the future recording you would like to modify.
  3. Select the Record icon, then Modify settings for this recording only.
  4. Select Record In, then choose High Definition (HD) or Standard Definition.
  5. Press the Exit button on your remote to return to live programming.

External Hard Drive Storage

An external hard drive increases the recording capacity of your DVR beyond the device's internal storage capability. Learn more.


Favorites

Add and Access Favorites

Favorites list setup

 

The Favorites feature allows you to quickly access channels you have designated as your Favorites. You can create up to five of your own unique Favorites Lists.

You can access your Favorites List in a variety of ways:

  • Open the Quick Menu and select the heart icon.
  • Press the FAV button on your remote.
  • Open the Setup Menu, then select Favorites List Setup to manage your Favorites settings.

To add a channel to your Favorites, highlight the channel listing of your choice and press OK/Select on your remote.

To remove a channel from your Favorites, select the channel then press the OK/Select or FAV button on your remote to remove the Save icon.
