Activate

Activation

Note: Before attempting to activate your Spectrum receiver, please leave it powered on and connected to the cable outlet for fifteen minutes.

After you've connected your Spectrum receiver to your TV, you need to activate it to complete the installation. If you've received more than one Spectrum receiver, connect all of your new equipment to the appropriate TVs before activating. All Spectrum receivers will be activated at the same time.

Note: Spectrum TV Home Shipment customers in Southern California must activate according to the specific Spectrum receiver type available in their area. If you live in Southern California, please see the Southern California Activation by Phone section below. Online Activation is not available in your area at this time.

To Activate Online:

Note: You'll need to enter your phone number listed on your Spectrum account or your account number to begin the activation process.
  1. Use the Spectrum TV activation tool and follow the activation steps.
  2. Typically, you'll be able to view live programing shortly after activation while your guide continues to load.

Activate by Phone:

Note: You'll need to know the phone number listed on your Spectrum account and your account number to complete the activation process.
  1. Call (877) 764-4054 .
  2. Follow the activation prompts.
  3. Typically, you'll be able to view live programing shortly after activation while your guide continues to load.

Southern California Activation Steps:

If you use this guide, you should follow the special Southern California Activate by Phone steps below. If any other any other guide appears on your screen, you may use the activation methods above.

Southern California Cisco Easy Setup Guide  

  1. After you've connected your Spectrum receiver, make sure it's powered on. The receiver will start its software download. This process can take up to 60 minutes to complete. During the download, it's important that you don't interrupt the download process. Don't touch the power, unplug the cable or push any buttons on the receiver.
  2. You'll see different numbers and letters appear across the display of the Spectrum receiver. Once the download is complete, your Spectrum receiver will turn off automatically and the receiver will display "----" (four dashes). Note: Don't turn the Spectrum receiver on.
  3. Once you see "----" (four dashes) on your Spectrum receiver, call (855) 232-1886 and follow the final activation steps. Note: Don't turn on your Spectrum receiver before calling.
  4. Typically, you'll be able to view live programing shortly after activation while your guide continues to load.

In most areas, you can have any Spectrum receiver, standard definition, high definition and/or, DVR delivered directly to your home for self-installation.

Benefits

  • Avoid the professional installation charge: self-install is free.
  • No need to schedule an appointment or wait for a technician.
  • Installation of your Spectrum receiver occurs at your convenience with easy-to-follow instructions.
  • Avoid a trip to the Spectrum Store to pick up equipment.

Cost

There is currently no charge to have a Spectrum TV Self-Install Kit shipped directly to your home. You're responsible for your monthly equipment and service fees associated with your order.

Place an Order

To order a Spectrum TV Self-Install Kit, contact us.

  • The customer service representative will verify your eligibility.
  • We'll need to know if you have a standard definition TV or a high definition TV and can help you determine your type of TV if necessary.

Eligibility

You can request a Home Shipment TV Self-Install Kit if the following conditions apply:

  1. You're a Spectrum TV customer with a minimum level of Basic TV.
  2. You'll be using an existing, functioning cable outlet.
  3. To use the cable provided with the self-install kit, your Spectrum receiver must be within 6' of the TV location. If you want to place your equipment further away, you must provide a longer composite or coax (SD) or HDMI (HD) cable.
  4. You're comfortable setting up equipment, such as connecting a DVD player to your TV.
  5. Your account balance is current. If you have a past due balance, you don't qualify for home shipment.
Note: Some restrictions apply. A Spectrum customer service representative can help you determine if a TV Self-Install Kit is available in your area when you place your order.

Shipment Tracking

  • If you provide an email address when you place your order, you'll get an email confirmation containing the details of your order. Your order will ship by the next business day and should arrive via FedEx within 5-7 business days from the placement of your order.
  • Once your order has shipped, you'll receive a second email containing a shipment notification along with your order tracking number.
  • You can track your package with the tracking number via FedEx tracking at: www.fedex.com/Tracking  

If you don't have your tracking number or have questions about tracking your shipment, contact us.

Note: If you're a Basic TV customer, it may take two additional days for you to receive your kit.

Equipment Return

  • If for any reason you want to return your self-install kit and the kit is unopened, request that FedEx "return to sender." If the kit was opened, locate the return label enclosed in your kit.
  • Ensure that all components are in the kit, seal it and adhere the label for shipment back to Spectrum. You can drop the kit off at your nearest FedEx store, or call FedEx for a pickup. Spectrum will pay the return shipping charges and remove the equipment charges from your account upon receipt.
  • If you no longer have your return sticker and/or kit, please return your equipment to the closest Spectrum Store.

There is no charge if you would like to pick up your Spectrum receiver and install it on your own. You will be responsible for your monthly equipment and service fees associated with your order.

To order a Spectrum TV Self-Install Kit, visit the closest Spectrum Store. Find the closest Spectrum Store.

  • A Spectrum Store representative will verify your eligibility.
  • The Spectrum Store representative will need to know if you have a standard definition TV or a high definition TV and can help you determine your type of TV if necessary.

  1. You're an existing Spectrum TV customer with a minimum service level of Expanded Basic or TV Select.
  2. You'll be using an existing, functioning cable outlet.
  3. To use the cable provided with the self-install kit, your Spectrum receiver must be within 6' of the TV location. If you wish to place your equipment further away, you must provide a longer composite or coax (SD) or HDMI (HD) cable.
  4. You're comfortable setting up equipment, such as connecting a DVD player to your TV.
  5. Your account balance must be current. If you have a past due balance, you do not qualify for equipment pickup.
