There are three types of Spectrum usernames that can be created within an account, each of which provides a different level of access to users.

  • Head of Household (HOH): This username is the primary owner or contact person, and is automatically assigned to the person that created or set up the account. The HOH receives communications from Spectrum and has access to all areas of My Account.
  • Administrator (Admin): The HOH can add multiple Admin usernames to provide others with full access to the account.
  • Standard A Standard username has access to non-sensitive account information and cannot pay bills or make changes to the account. Standard usernames can't change their account permissions.
Note: Only Spectrum usernames with HOH or Admin permissions can manage other users.

To grant or remove permissions:

  1. Sign in to Spectrum.net as HOH or Admin.
  2. Select My Account, then Settings.
  3. Select the username profile you want to edit.
  4. Scroll down to the Account Controls section, and click the check mark to edit account access permissions for Account Control Type, Voice Online Manager and DVR Control. A blue checkmark indicates the permission is granted.
  5. Choose Save.
Note: Changing a username to HOH will remove all communication preferences, as well as additional email addresses or phone numbers added to your profile. The current HOH will be converted to a Standard username. A message box will appear to confirm your changes. You won't be able to undo this change and will be redirected to sign back in.
