Creating a New Spectrum Username

If you are a new customer or have never created a My Account login or Spectrum email address, you should create a Spectrum username and password. This username will be your Spectrum email address and allow you to sign in to Spectrum.net to take advantage of the full range of services (viewing and paying your bill, making changes to your account, etc.).

We recommend that you create a strong username and password to protect your valuable information online. Learn more about strong username and password guidelines.

Once you have created your first username, you can add additional users.

To create a new Spectrum username:

  1. Select the Sign In link at the top of any Spectrum.net page. Then select the Create Username   link at the bottom of the sign-in page.
  2. Select Sign In and Create Username on the Sign In page below the sign in fields.
  3. Verify your account information.
    1. Choose a method of verifying your account from the dropdown menu:
      • Account Number: You can find your 16-digit account number at the top of your Spectrum statement (bill).
      • Telephone Number: This is the primary telephone number associated with your account.
    2. Enter the last name of the primary account holder and select Next.
  4. This user will be the Head of Household and have full privileges on Spectrum.net.

If you are not at home and choose to verify your account using your telephone number: As an extended security measure, you will needto provide one of the following and select Next:

  • Account Number: You can find your 16-digit account number at the top of your Spectrum statement (bill).
  • Last four digits of the Account MAC (serial number) (do not use EMAC or CN): The MAC ID/MAC Address (serial number) sticker is typically found on the bottom or side of any equipment associated with your account (modem, router, etc.).
  • Security Code: You can find your 4-digit security code at the top of your Spectrum statement (bill).
  1. Enter your information.
    1. Fill in the fields to create your username and password, accept the Terms & Conditions and select Create Username.
    2. When your username is successfully created, select Finish and you will be signed in to Spectrum.net.
  2. The first username you create will be your Head of Household and have full privileges on Spectrum.net
After creating a new username, you'll need to wait 24-72 hours before you can use it to sign into the Spectrum TV App or any TV channel apps.

Username Guidelines

Usernames must follow these guidelines:

  • Usernames must have at least six (6) characters
  • We recommend using a combination of letters, numbers and special characters:
    • Letters: (Aa-Zz)
    • Numbers: (0-9)
  • The only special characters allowed are .(dot), -(dash) or _(underscore)
  • Usernames must not begin or end with symbols
  • Usernames must not include consecutive symbols

Password Guidelines

Passwords must follow these guidelines:

  • We recommend using a combination of letters, numbers and special characters
    • Letters: (Aa-Zz)
    • Numbers: (0-9)
    • Special Characters: (@#$%^&*()_+|~-=`{}[]:;"<>'./)
    • Symbols that are NOT allowed are backslash (\) and opening/closing double quotes (??)
  • Password length must be between 8 and 20 characters
  • Your password must include one UPPERCASE letter, one lowercase letter and one number (0-9)

Adding Additional Users

Once you have created your main Spectrum username, you can add additional users:

  1. Sign in to Spectrum.net
  2. Select My Account at the top of any Spectrum.net page.
  3. Find a list of users at the bottom of the page under Settings.
  4. Select Add User
  5. Enter the information for the user, agree to the Terms and Conditions and select Create Username
  6. Your new user will be a Standard user. If you'd like, you can give a new user Administrator privileges.
When you create a Standard Username, the parental controls for that user will automatically be set to restrict R-rated and TV-M content. If you want to change these Parental Controls, you can do so in My Account: Settings
