splitter

A splitter is a device used to split a cable signal if the signal must be sent to two or more devices. A splitter changes the signal level along the cable line. This can cause intermittent loss of service or complete service failure.

We recommend connecting your modem directly to a wall outlet without using a splitter. If you do use a splitter, please make sure it is rated at 3.5 dBmV.

If you are installing Spectrum Internet service yourself and you also have Spectrum TV service, you'll want to connect a short length of coaxial cable to the wall outlet and to the IN side of the splitter. Then connect your Spectrum receiver and modem to the OUT connectors on the splitter (see below).

You can obtain a splitter in a self-install kit at a Spectrum store or by contacting us.

If you need to use more than one splitter, you may need a signal booster.
