Follow the steps below to renew your IP Address in the Mac operating system. You might want to do this if many computers use the same Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server or if your network administrator has set up a short DHCP release time.:

  1. Select the Apple Menu and choose System Preferences.
  2. In the System Preferences folder, locate and double-click the Network icon under the Internet and Network section.
  3. On the Network screen, choose the service that uses DHCP, either Ethernet or Wireless, from the network connection services list.
  4. Select the Advanced button.
  5. Select TCP/IP.
  6. Select Renew DHCP Lease.
